This Privacy Policy explains how Live Earth Reports, operator of Live Earth Reports (“we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, shares, stores, and protects information when you browse the site; submit an Earth, Weather, or Sky event report; ask or answer a community question; upload media; request alerts; follow an event or area; or contact us.

Information you provide

  • Reports and community content: titles, descriptions, categories, event dates and times, city or location text, approximate coordinates, usernames or display names, questions, replies, confirmations, optional external links, and other details you choose to submit.
  • Uploaded media: photographs, video, audio, captions, filenames, and technical metadata that may remain embedded in a file.
  • Email alerts and follows: email address, confirmation status, selected location, radius, categories, notification frequency, subscription status, unsubscribe or management token, and delivery history.
  • Contact and correction requests: name, email address, subject, message, relevant page URL, report title or date, and anything else you choose to provide.

Information collected automatically

Our website, WordPress installation, hosting provider, server logs, security and anti-spam tools, caching or content-delivery services, email-delivery tools, mapping services, analytics services, advertising partners, and other technical providers may process IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring and visited pages, timestamps, cookie or device identifiers, approximate location, error records, and activity used to operate, secure, measure, and improve the site.

We may use IP addresses and related technical records for moderation, spam prevention, duplicate detection, abuse review, security, rate limiting, troubleshooting, and legal compliance. Services such as Cloudflare or comparable security and delivery providers may process technical information when enabled on the site.

Public reports, community posts, media, and locations

Approved reports, questions, replies, and other community submissions may be displayed publicly on report pages, maps, category pages, community pages, major-event pages, search results, social previews, emails, feeds, or other Live Earth Reports features. Public details may include the title, description, category, event time, approximate location, map marker, uploaded media, chosen display name, and related public information.

Email addresses, IP addresses, private alert settings, unsubscribe tokens, delivery records, and internal moderation notes are not intended to be displayed publicly. However, information you place inside a public title, description, reply, caption, image, video, or linked page may become public.

Approximate latitude and longitude may be stored when you use location detection, choose a mapped location, or submit a city or place that is geocoded for the map. Do not submit private street addresses, a person’s precise location, private contact details, faces, license plates, or other identifying information unless you have the right and a legitimate reason to publish it.

We may reduce location precision, remove metadata, redact identifying details, or decline a submission, but we cannot guarantee that every identifying detail will be detected. Review all text and media before submission.

How we use information

  • Review, approve, correct, publish, group, organize, map, moderate, and maintain reports and community content.
  • Organize reports by category, location, date, related event, or other useful signals.
  • Send requested event alerts, area watches, weekly digests, follow notifications, confirmations, unsubscribe messages, and other service communications.
  • Operate replies, confirmations, questions, contact requests, and correction or removal workflows.
  • Prevent spam, duplicate submissions, fraud, abuse, malicious activity, and security threats.
  • Diagnose technical problems, measure performance, and improve content, features, accessibility, and reliability.
  • Comply with law, enforce site policies, and protect the rights and safety of users, the public, and the site.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics or comparable analytics technology to understand how visitors find and use the site. This may process pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser details, referring pages, interactions, cookie identifiers, and IP-derived information. We use these measurements to maintain the service, identify problems, and improve content. Google processes information under its own terms and privacy practices.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We may use Google AdSense and other advertising partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, may place and read cookies on your browser or use web beacons, IP addresses, device identifiers, and similar technologies as a result of ad serving on this site. These technologies may be used to serve, measure, limit, and personalize ads; understand ad interactions; prevent fraud and abuse; and provide advertising services.

You can review or control Google ad personalization through Google Ads Settings. Learn how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services at Google’s partner-sites information page. Other third-party vendors or ad networks may also use cookies or similar technologies when permitted through our advertising settings.

Cookies and similar technologies

We and our providers may use cookies, local storage, pixels, web beacons, and similar technologies for WordPress operation, preferences, security, caching, analytics, advertising, frequency capping, consent records, and fraud prevention. Details appear in our Cookie Policy. Where legally required, we will request consent before using non-essential cookies or processing data for personalized advertising.

Uploaded files and linked third-party content

Uploaded files may contain location, device, date, author, or other metadata. Files and linked third-party content may be processed, scanned, cached, stored, resized, or delivered by hosting, security, media, storage, mapping, or content-delivery providers. External websites and services have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.

When information may be shared

We may share information with hosting, security, anti-spam, caching, email-delivery, analytics, advertising, mapping, media-storage, and other technical providers that help operate the site. Public report and community information is shared with anyone who accesses the site. We may also disclose information to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, investigate abuse, enforce policies, protect rights or safety, or complete a business transfer. We do not sell a private subscriber or contact list as a standalone product.

Data retention

  • Alert subscriptions, follows, and delivery records: until you unsubscribe or the service is discontinued.
  • Community replies, questions, confirmations, and related email data: up to 24 months after the related report becomes inactive.
  • Reports and uploaded media: while the report remains useful, unless removal is required or approved.
  • Contact, correction, deletion, and copyright messages: up to 24 months after the matter is resolved.
  • Security, moderation, anti-spam, and server logs: retained as reasonably necessary for security, duplicate detection, troubleshooting, legal compliance, and abuse prevention.

Information may remain longer in backups, legal records, moderation records, or archived copies. Public information may remain in search-engine caches, social-media previews, emails already delivered, or copies controlled by others.

To help us locate an item, include enough information to identify it, such as the report or question title, date, URL, approximate location, and the change requested. We may request additional information to verify identity, ownership, or authority. Some records may be retained when required by law or reasonably needed for security, dispute resolution, backups, recordkeeping, or the rights of others.

Children’s privacy

The site is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 should not submit personal information. A parent or guardian who believes a child supplied personal information should contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, remove it.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no website, transmission, or storage method is completely secure. Do not send sensitive financial, medical, identity, password, or account information through reports, replies, alerts, or the contact form.

International visitors

The site is operated from the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where providers operate. Privacy rights vary by location. We will use consent and privacy controls where required, including an appropriate Google-certified consent-management platform for covered advertising regions when applicable.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the site, providers, features, or legal requirements change. Questions or privacy requests may be sent through our Contact page or to Contact@LiveEarthReports.com.
