This policy explains how Live Earth Reports handles community submissions, editorial material, corrections, labels, and removals.

Community-first reporting

The site accepts firsthand observations from members of the public. Community reports are labeled as user-submitted or otherwise distinguished from official information. Acceptance for publication does not establish that every factual claim or proposed cause has been verified.

Review priorities

Moderation may consider relevance, clarity, location, date and time, apparent authenticity, duplication, privacy, safety, legality, copyright, spam, manipulation, and compliance with the Community Guidelines. Higher-risk claims may require stronger labeling, corroboration, reduced location precision, delayed publication, or rejection.

Editing submissions

We may correct obvious spelling or formatting problems, remove personal information, reduce location precision, redact faces or identifying details, choose a thumbnail, categorize a report, add context or safety notes, and shorten material without changing its essential meaning. Material edits should be disclosed when a change could significantly affect interpretation.

Verification and sourcing

When feasible, we may compare a report with official alerts, public agency data, multiple independent observations, timestamps, weather records, geospatial information, or media metadata. Lack of corroboration does not necessarily prove a report false, and corroboration does not guarantee every detail is correct.

Corrections

We correct material factual errors when reliable information supports a correction. Depending on severity, we may edit the page, add a correction note, change a label, update a location, or remove the report. Minor typographical or formatting corrections may be made without a notice.

Removal requests

We review requests involving private information, personal safety, minors, copyright, impersonation, unlawful content, credible inaccuracies, or other significant harm. Removal is not guaranteed merely because a report is inconvenient or critical. We may preserve nonpublic records when needed for security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or abuse prevention.

Conflicts and advertising

Advertising does not purchase favorable editorial treatment or control moderation decisions. Sponsored content, if used, should be identified so it is distinguishable from community and editorial content.

Artificial intelligence and automation

Automated tools may assist with spam detection, categorization, summaries, moderation triage, translation, or technical operations. Human review may be used for significant decisions, but not every item is manually verified. Automated output can be wrong and should not be treated as official confirmation.

Submitting a correction
